Senior Grandmaster Rev. Dr. Michael Posey holds the rank of 9th Degree Black Belt in Tang Soo Do Karate.
He is a founder of the NBBKA & NBBKAF.
When he had been only a 1st Dan for 3 months in 1970, he won the Black Belt Heavy Weight Division in sparring and placed 3rd overall in United States Karate Association Grand National Championships during the era when this was the national tournament.
His students have won national and international titles in both light and full contact karate.
He is the only NBBKA founder that has received direct karate instruction from Tang So Doo Founder Grand Master Hwang Kee and was the first student of Grandmaster Kyong Won Ahn to skip from white to green belt that allowed him to earn his 1st Dan in only 2 years.
He has mastered the physics and scientific application of Tang Soo Do which is the most scientific and physics based karate style found in the Tang Soo Do textbook of Grandmaster Hwang Kee.
During his tenure as president of the NBBKA he led the organization during its most prosperous years and his 1981 Master of Business Administration thesis topic was the NBBKA business plan where he outlined the vision of the NBBKA and the National Black Belt Karate Association Foundation (NBBKAF) that recently came to fruition as a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization which has already received a sizeable donation from Duke Energy.
